My Weight Loss Challenge 2012

My name is Tee and I am a 28 year old single mum (to a 6 year old angel) that works and lives in Lagos, Nigeria. I did not make ‘Losing weight’ one of my 2012 resolutions but it just happened. January 2012, I realized from the way work was going (even during the ‘Occupy Nigeria’ strike – and yes I was working) that to achieve a perfect work/life balance I would have to fight for it. So I enrolled into a gym somewhere on the Island to close from work and workout everyday.

What started out as me being rebellious started getting interesting when one Friday, I was going to have drinks with friends after work so I decided to go to the gym in the morning. I met an old friend and personal trainer of mine from my old gym in Ikeja. He encouraged me to start coming in the morning as this is more refreshing and it jump starts your day. So I started, engaged the services of my friend and personal trainer …and kicked off for real. A lot of my friends have approached me this past couple of weeks to find out; how exactly did I do it? They were hoping I’d say I used a drug or something but were greatly surprised when I simply said ‘EXERCISE AND DIET’. I could see disappointments on their faces.

I must say it has been alot of hard work and dedication and a mind set change and of course the grace of God. I made the decision earlier this year to get rid of the excess fat for good- a mind set change because I decided to delete from the system the myths like ‘I have big bones’ or ‘we are big in my family’ or ‘i do not have time to exercise’ etc If you know me well enough, you would know I have never been a slim person in my life. Maybe once I tried to lose some weight when I had Tamilore- my daughter- in 2006 but when I started to get the compliments, I simply stopped exercising. What is different now is that I have decided on a total lifestyle overhaul- healthy Living and God help me its for life – so help me God – and I have also decided to carry everyone around me along …hence this email *Open-mouth-smile*. Not to bore you with another write-up on weight loss which we see all over the place I would stop with the following words; Quit giving excuses and JUST DO IT; One of my mentors in this new life of mine Michelle Obama says sometimes she wakes up at 4.30am in the morning to simply work out if it is going to be a busy day for her. Her reason is and I quote ‘After I had Malia, I began to prioritize exercise because I realized that my happiness is tied to how I feel about myself. I want my girls to see a mother who takes care of herself, even if that means I have to get up at 4:30 so I can do a workout’.

Same Dress Before and After Weight Loss

Eliminate myths from your life, in my dictionary there is no such thing as big bones. The reason you are all big in your house is because you all have not been living healthy from generation to generation. I lost 17kg (37pounds) in 3months is evidence that with hard work and tenacity, we can achieve everything and anything we want to achieve- I am still a work in progress with another 14kg( 30pounds) to lose.

There are no SHORTCUTS; EXERCISE + HEALTHY EATING = FANTASTIC BODY.
