What happens when you combine an ATV (all terrain vehicle/quadbike) with a jet-ski? Pure awesomeness, that’s what. This is the Gibbs Quadski, an amphibian that operates as both an ATV and a personal watercraft. This four wheel amphibious vehicle tears it up on land and sea, with a top speed of 50 mph on either surface. Granted, they say it’s not as good on land as a regular ATV or on water as a jet ski, but when was the last time you were able to drive your jet ski to the beach?
The Quadski moves quickly enough in its terrestrial and marine configurations to generate thrills. As it should: Power is supplied by a 1.3 liter, four-cylinder engine from BMW’s K1300 motorcycle. Weighing in at about $40,000, it’s not for the faint hearted. The big draw, of course, comes when you push the button next to the ignition switch that deploys or retracts the wheels and sends the BMW engine’s output to driveshaft or water jet.
Despite a perhaps underwhelming performance capability compared to it’s terrain dedicated rivals, it scores big with the cool kids and makes this writers wish list. See video below.
Verdit: Must have it immediately.
