Strength Training Workout: The Catch-Up

The Catch-Up continues, this time with a focus on strength training. While tempo was key for cardio selections, here it’s all about mood. You want tracks that will motivate you to push through those last reps when your arms feel like Jell-O and you swear you can’t possibly lift that weight one more time.

Think of this as your two-hour version of “Eye of the Tiger.”

Tip: Never end a workout during or right after a difficult set when you feel you can’t go any further. Wait till after your rest period (30-60 seconds… 90 if you’re really worn out) and then decide. Throw on a secret-weapon track (mine’s Nas “The Don” ) after your rest period and you’ll most likely be able to move on to another exercise — maybe even after another set of your current tormentor.
